The Search for Truth and the Truth That Finds Us
[Blog#1.2]
"जब सत्य की परीक्षा लेने चले हो, सत्य भी तुम्हारी परीक्षा लेगा।"
"When you go to test the truth, the truth will test you as well."
We often believe that we are the ones searching for the truth. But in reality, truth has a strange way of finding us. Every human being is in pursuit of truth, but more often than not, it is their own version of truth that they chase.
A scientist begins with a hypothesis, a personal belief about how the world works. But experiments may confirm the idea or completely destroy it. Doesn't this mean that scientists search for one truth, only to be struck by a completely different one?
Sometimes the truth we discover is far better than what we expected. Other times, it is horrifying.
Take Oppenheimer and the scientists of his era. They were seeking the truth about quantum physics, nuclear fission, and the fundamental laws of nature. But the truth they uncovered became one of the darkest chapters in human history. The people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki experienced that dreadful truth firsthand in 1945.
Yet not all truths are terrible. Some transform the world for the better.
Consider Alexander Fleming. He was researching bacteria, but instead, the truth of penicillin found him, a discovery far greater than the one he set out to make. History is filled with countless such examples where unexpected truths changed the world.
In the end, truth is not always what we search for, but it is always what finds us.
